The management of the rehabilitation clinic in Walenstadtberg had placed the request for the implementation of a certain number of rooms for private insurance patients. Initially the clinic offered only rooms for semi-private or basic insurance guests. The higher requirements of private guests concerning comfort justified the implementation of such specific private rooms as the number of privately insured people in Switzerland grows constantly. The clinic had appointed Detail Design to work out the interior design concept for those rooms and to coordinate the entire fit-out until handover.

Warm, earthy colours and materials were utilised for the new creation of the private bedrooms. One can see the relation to the surrounding nature in the overall appearance with oak parquet, mood coloured and decent green walls with mountain pictures and furniture components out of oak wood.

Well-being is one of the psychologically most important foundations for the recovery of patients. For the first time, Detail Design was given the opportunity to set interior design accents in the health sector by redesigning six of the existing bedrooms.

Together with the entire refit of six rooms to private patients’ bedrooms, we were also addressed to renovate the internal bathrooms. We brought in new jointless floors and travertine – like wall tiles and replaced wash basing and shower curtain to match with the rest of the design.
